Amazon stops selling the new Kindle Colorsoft until further notice

Just some days after its release, following manufacturing issues, Amazon Kindle Colorsoft isn’t available anymore.

Many users have reported a yellowing at the bottom of the screen and asked for a replacement or a refund.

At first it seems Amazon support talked about a software problem but everything points to a hardware issue.

The US Amazon website lists the Colorsoft as unavailable until further notice. French site says it will be delivered in 3 to 6 monthes.

Such a wide delay show they don’t know yet how they will deal with this issue.

- They may have to simply destroy their current stock and build a new one.

- They may try to mitigate the issue using the color display to compensate for the yellowing, which doesn’t sound to be a good idea however.

- They may try to relaunch it before the summer, maybe as a new model with some improvements.

This is a serious problem for the Kindle team and I feel a bit sad for them. I think they really did their best to improve the quite disappointing Kaleido 3 tech as much as possible. With little success, unfortunately.
